Car Dent Repairs

There is nothing more frustrating than walking to the car park and realising your car has some unsightly car dents due to someone hitting your car with their shopping trolley. Such minor accidents seem to be happening more and more frequently, and since a car dent epair cost can cost a hefty bit of money it is better that you learn how to handle the car dent repairs on your own. Below are some helpful tips on how to repair car dents and get your vehicle looking as good as new.

For a start, you will need to assess the damage on your car. Most dents can be popped back out, provided the metal has not been crumpled or creased. In most cases, you can tell, simply by looking at the dent closely. Can you see any bumps or ripples in the metal that looks as though it was been partially folded? If the metal is not creased, then you should be able to fix the dent on your car in no time. If the metal is crumpled or creased, it is best that you buy that panel and replace the dent, rather than perform any car body dent repair.

To get the best results, before you get started you should wash this section of your car to ensure there is nothing to interfere with your car dent repair tools, Ideally you should clean the panel a good 4″-6″ around the dent in all directions. Dry thoroughly.

One of the easiest DIY car dent repair methods is to involve an item that almost all of us have in our homes – a common plunger. When you apply the plunger over the dent, make it a point to depress in a slow and steady fashion until all air has escaped. This way, you will have a tight seal between the panel and the rubber head of the plunger. Next, take a firm grip on the plunger and using a steady pull; gently pop the dent back out of the metal. This cat door dent repair method works best on side panels where it can be difficult to tap dents out.

For more serious car dent repair, you can approach a car dent repair shop that specializes in paint-free dent removal. Assuming there is no crease in your car paint, they can usually pop your dent out for you, for a reasonable fee. But if your car’s dent has a crease, then you will have to take it to an auto-body repair shop to fix the damage.
